2018 Toast with Tri Delta

The 2nd annual Toast with Tri Delta was held on April 22nd, 2018, at Balistreri Vineyards. The event featured unlimited wine tasting, music, dancing and our very special guest Child Ambassador Maya. Guests sipped on the vineyard’s locally produced wine, took tours of the wine cellar and bid on their favorite silent auction items. The 2018 event raised $18,949 for Children’s Hospital Colorado through ticket sales, sponsorships, donations and silent auction proceeds.

Child Ambassador: Maya, age 10

Maya is truly one-of-a-kind. She has an extremely rare blood disorder, known as hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), that causes her blood cells to attack other healthy blood cells, even striking her spleen, lungs and brain. Maya’s specific form of HLH – and the way it affects her body – is so rare that there is no other case in the world quite like hers. Because Maya’s condition is so unique, Children’s Hospital Colorado doctors are charting a new course in treating her. Health care providers say her story will write the book on her disease. Maya copes with her illness by maintaining a positive attitude and always bringing her trusty sidekick, a stuffed monkey named Dave, along to her numerous hospital stays. In 2016, she underwent a bone marrow transplant with her sister, Marley, as her donor. Maya looks forward to going back to school soon when her immune system isn’t compromised. In the meantime, she loves eating her favorite food – plain waffles with butter – as well as math, swimming and spending time with her friends.
